Historically Galle has proven to be a spinner friendly track and Murali's track of choice; Muttiah has a staggering 87 wickets in 11 matches at Galle. This statistic can fool anyone into thinking the wicket at Galle is a crumbling, dusty spinner's paradise.
Sources in Galle have assured me it's quite the opposite, with the newly laid track under covers for a prolonged period and heavy monsoon showers (weather forecasts predict 21mm of rain this week) the pitch looks green and very moist.
The heavy rain fall ensured the soil around the batting strip was heavily drenched.
Hopefully the weather god's finally grace the town of Galle and we get a full 5 days of play.
