I'm absolutely appalled and I have no doubt that I'm NOT alone in this. The role of a sports commentator should consist of unbiased narration of our great game and an expert analysis of the ongoing game. Channel 9's commentary team consists of former Australian cricketers and a wannabe British sportsman (Mark Nicholas). For those who don't know Mark Nicholas has never played International cricket, I agree one does not need to be a former player to be a good commentator but Mark must remain loyal to his employers and as such barely resembles anything close to the word 'unbiased'.
For a brief moment Micheal Slater managed to turn even me off cricket when he let his emotions get in the way as Sri Lanka appealed for a caught behind when Gilly was in the 90's. "Stop appealing!" was what 'slats' and 'heals' blurted even prior to requesting for a 'snikco' replay. The commentators had their heads so deep up Gilly's ass that they didn't realise Sri Lanka were knocking off the rest of the batting order.
If you watched Match 6 on Star sports you'll have a very diverse view of the game. The Andrew Symond's catch was in no means 'Clean' and The Micheal Hussey stumping was turned down by the 3rd umpire after ONLY receiving 2 inconclusive videos from Channel 9's producers. The Star sports commentators called it as they saw it and 9's crew..well were partying and celebrating an Aussie win.
If winning means this much to these Australians they should follow the Americans as they do with NFL and NBA and play Cricket amongst themselves..call it the 'World Series' and only broadcast these games amongst themselves.

yeah Hilal, that's shocking but I've always thought how the SL commentators always promote the opposite team equally bad
Yup you are right!
These Chanel 9 commentators are truly pathetic!
I was wondering where to complain to.
However, I thought that the "stop appealing" came from Ian Healy and not Slater, because Healy was very eager to see Gilchrist get his hundred (in a very immature manner). And was cheering Gilchrist on saying that they can't delay the 'news'any longer. But they did delay the news for half an hour (had it been Jayasuriya playing on 99 runs, they wouldn't have given two hoots about disrupting the match to telecast the news on time)
Anyhow, It really is sickening to listen to Healy and Mark Nicholas, they are supposed to be commentators, not a part of the crowd of fans!
I do agree with this. I think it is unfair for the opposition team's supporters. Both the teams should be equally matched. People like Ian Healy, Mark Taylor, Michael Slater, Tony Greig are far too bias and can get really annoying when they laugh at some poor shots. In particular Ian Healy who I have always heard laughing at others in the background. Even some of the appeals made by the other team our ignored while scrutinizing their own appeal several times. I think Channel nine should really do something about this, otherwise they are the ones who will have less audience.
Channel 9 Cricket Commentary really sucks hard. Its a national disgrace.
Notice how they now coach Australian players live in the miked-up Twenty20 matches, suggesting opposing batsmen's weaknesses to bowlers, etc. Is there not some kind of whopping fine for such crap? I mean, its hardly cricket.
What a pathetic commentary by Channel 9 during the Twenty Twenty match Australia v Pakistan.
The sound was shocking and perhaps it was a godsend but these guys were either talking into microphones clogged up with previously eaten pies and pasties which were muffling the entire commentary by each and everyone of them.
Channel 9 knew 60,000 would attend and if they were half smart they would have ensured the commentators were sitting in some kind of soundproof box with the door closed.
It was pathetic to think a good game and good camera work was marred by inaudible sound.
Channel 9 could have got away with only one commentator and saved plenty of dollars for what it was worth..... a BIG thumbs down to 9!!!
Big thumbs up for nine. Technically, it's the best telecast in the world. Nine leads the way with with the best technology in live cricket broadcasts. Unfortunately, it also leads the way with Advertising
Extreme shit article...Bill Lawry and Tony Greig r the best commentators ever, who can make a dead match alive by their brilliant commentary!!They do not make a match boring by remaining quite like many other poor commentators!!Channel 9 commentary team is simply the best in cricket mainly because of Bill Lawry and Tony Greig!!Bill Lawry is specially the best in thrilling stages, whose breathless fast commentary makes the match ten times more interesting!!

Tell the loser above to read the article before commenting. This post has nothing to do with Lawry or Greig, but the other clowns like Slater/Healy and Mark Nicholas on Channel 9.
