"We have banned him for joining a rebel league and we are not concerned if he still does it for some other sports channel. If Sri Lankan board is involved in some cricket, Atapattu is not allowed to do commentary,"a top SLC official said.

Marvan Atapattu banned
Times of India: "After the BCCI banned all who took part in the Indian Cricket League from its activities, the SLC is also doing the same. Former Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu, who was seen and heard during the Asia Cup as a member of the commentary team, will not be allowed to do any commentary when Sri Lanka will be playing at home."

its seems more like personal vengence. OK its one thing to ban someeone from representing his country in Cricket since SLC is governing body for cricket in SL but you cannot prevent someone from earning a living to feed his children. Him doing commenteries is something between the TV channel and him, so i dont see the role for the SLC unles SLC wants to use financial muscle to impose censorship. I dont see how that can be done since SLC is a government body and they dont have the right to impose such censorship to someeon who has no contract with them. In any case Commenteries our personal views of the person and he does not represent the country or the SLC. So whats the problem.?
yes, i am totally agreed for the above comment!!! its not fair...
This is complete bullshit from SLC.
Its no fair to treat a great player who served Srilanka this way. Very sad to see this approach
form this ban, they have proved their hostility towrds this great player, who has served his country for more than a decade.
