"I think this is an absurd thing to say. ICC did the right thing by supporting Murali and it was their decision. There was no pressure from the Sri Lankan Board nor did they threaten to give racial colour to the episode," Atapattu told PTI.
"Everyone has his own opinion and is free to express it. But if someone says something bad about great players like Murali and Sachin (Tendulkar), it won't change anything. They are great players and have served the game well so one should not pay heed to something, which is said deliberately just to draw attention," - Atapattu.

Gilchrist's opinion doesn't matter: Atapattu
CHANDIGARH: Dismissing Adam Gilchrist's accusations against Muttiah Muralitharan, former Sri Lanka skipper Marvan Atapattu has said Gilchrist's
opinions did not matter.
"If he feels that way, he is free to have his opinion. It doesn't make any difference to the champion spinner or his reputation at all. Murali has been playing international cricket for 16 years now and has taken 756 wickets in Tests and 459 in ODIs. His performance speaks for itself," said Atapattu.
Talking on the sidelines of the ICL match between Delhi Giants and Chandigarh Lions at Tau Devi Lal Stadium on Wednesday night, Atapattu welcomed Sri Lanka Cricket's (SLC) decision to allow ICL players to play on their domestic circuit. "It is a very good decision which will encourage other boards to take similar steps. Youngsters will stand to gain from it. It is a good step to integrate ICL with the ICC."
He heaped praise on SLC chairman Arjuna Ranatunga, saying: "Ranatunga is a man of conviction; if he feels in a certain way, he won't hesitate in expressing it.
"All young cricketers playing for ICL would love to hear their idol's opinion about them. Positive or negative doesn't matter, at least they should air their views. I am sure there is no pressure on a player like Sachin Tendulkar to let his opinion known. Youngsters here idolize them; they have grown watching these players play. Don't these players feel any responsibility towards these budding cricketers?" asked Atapattu.
I have no idea why aussie’s including players have a big issue with ICC adjusting the rules of 15 degree angle for every bowler.
Because Kevin Peterson invented reverse pull shot or what every it‘s call during the one day series against New Zealand this year.
ICC adjusted the rules according to that stroke giving batsmen to freedom to play that stroke.

On the other hand Gilchrist was un-ethical to cricket when he used a squash ball inside his glow during the world cup yet he speaks about ICC’s ethics.

well there was nothing unethical about the squash ball saga, so let's not go on about that. Having said that i've lost a lot of respect for gilly after this. Shame on him!
